FAC Webinar on Covid-19 - Chemical Preventive Measures and Drug Developments
The Seminar Committee, Fazl Ali College, Mokokchung organised the Interdepartmental Webinar on the topic “Covid-19: Chemical Preventive Measures and Drug Developments” on 6th October 2021 with Dr. Imliwati Longkumer, Assistant Professor, Department of Chemistry, FAC as the Resource person. Moderator Mr. Chiratho M. Nyuwi, Assistant Professor, Department of Zoology, FAC welcomed all the participants on behalf of the Seminar Committee. The Resource person, Dr. Longkumer talked about SARS-CoV-2 virus and its mechanism of entry and replication in the host cell and how Chemistry as a discipline plays key roles from understanding viral structure to the development of chemical preventive measures and drugs for Covid-19. He also discussed about the preventive measures in stopping the spread of the virus with special emphasis on chemical preventive measures like using soaps, hand sanitizers and surface sanitizers. He further talked about the drug developments and vaccines manufactured against Covid-19. The session ended with a lively interaction between the participants and the resource person.
